The Sierra
Hiked into Marlette Lake October 19, 2011. Ten miles round trip and the leaves were still not at peak. Practiced some HDR technique with some of the photos. Came back just a little foot sore but enjoyed the trip.
People
Wild Horses
Abandoned, they thrived in forgotten corners and the out of
the way
Where others had died they survived and made the outback
their own place,
Here to stay.
Now hunted and harried, they have done too well.
There are too many to hear others tell.
They don’t belong
To see them in the wild you can’t help but hope
That their nobility and spirit will grace the desert forever
Running out there, fleet and strong,
Not relegated to dreams and songs.
Desert
Stark and unforgiving.
Earth’s skeleton plain to see.
No lush green growth to hide in.
Rock and stone, sand and grit,
Wind, your constant companion
Tugging at your clothes
Caressing you to the bone
Scouring the planes of your soul.
