I haven’t posted trail cam photos for a while as I have been busy with my new camera equipment. I have been checking them regularly and am excited to see more bucks showing up than at any other time this early in the season. I usually only have a few small bucks appear during the summer and the big ones seem to hide until autumn romance time. I am also seeing lots of fawns and at least one set of twins. Here are a few of the most recent trail cam pics of bucks. Some look like they may have some decent antlers going into the fall.

A very good haul for your cameras.
I was pleased to see all the activity. π
Beautiful creatures! About how long does it take for them to grow antlers this size?
They are aren’t they. π Looking back through a lot of photos, it looks like most bucks start growing their horns the last week of March. So, what we are seeing is approximately 13 to 15 weeks of growth.
Thanks! π¦
Awesome photos. Love the deer. They are beautiful animals.
Thanks! I love looking at them.
Lovely.
Amazing – I didn’t know their antlers were so furry… or maybe it’s my bad eyes! Linda xx
It isn’t your eyes! π When their horns are growing, they are in what is called the velvet stage. In the fall when they are done growing blood flow stops to the horn. They harden and the bucks scrape the velvet off in preparation of using them in battle.
Oh my goodness how amazing – I love the notion of a “velvet stage” how perfect! Velvet followed by battle – nature is the best!
Great captures. Deer are rather fascinating creatures.
Thank you. Yes, they are amazing creatures.
Very beautiful π―
Wonderful photos of the deer, Alison. Looks like those bucks have healthy sets of antlers. A couple in my yard have really puny ones.
Thanks! I am so looking forward to this fall. I am determined to get some good photos with my real camera. π
